Where do your computers come from?

We acquire our computers from corporations. Corporations typically lease computers from one to three years. When the lease ends, School Tech Supply purchases the computers from the corporation or the leasing company.

Computers coming out of a corporate environment are usually of the higher end, business line of machines instead of the less robust consumer models (Example: Dell Optiplex machines instead of Dell Inspirons).

Would I sacrifice speed or performance?

For the needs of an educational user, no. Our computers are as new as 6-months old and fully configurable to your needs. We offer everything from lower end Pentium 4’s to the newest Intel i-series machines. We can match your technical requirements with an STS Certified computer. The learning experience for the student is identical to a new computer.

How is STS Certified equipment different from used or refurbished equipment?

Used equipment refers to computer hardware that was previously owned and is resold with little or no refurbishing work. Machines are turned on to ensure they are operational but no further testing, cleaning or configuring is performed.

Refurbished equipment refers to used equipment that has been tested and cleaned. Processes vary, but usually tests are not performed on the components; a unit that is able to boot to Windows® is considered a pass. Cleaning is done by hand and often excludes the interior of the machine.

School Tech Supply’s Certified equipment must pass a rigorous testing and inspection process. All machines are cleaned inside and out to restore the appearance of the unit. Custom configuration and imaging is also provided at no additional cost.

What condition are the computers in after being STS Certified?

Internally, the computers are as reliable as the day they left the factory. Our rigorous testing process diagnoses malfunctioning or substandard components which are replaced.

Externally the computers are as clean and restored as possible. While some minor cosmetic damage is unavoidable special care is taken to restore the computers to nearly new condition.

If I order 300 computers, will they be identical?

Yes. Because we check computers down to the component level we can be guarantee that units purchased together will all successfully image with a single image. This also makes the job of maintaining and replacing parts easy as you will only be working with one stable configuration.

Is there a maximum on how many computers you have available?

No. Our asset recovery team has built solid relationships with large corporations and the major leasing companies. We are able to procure any number of the exact brand, model and specifications you require.

Is my selection limited?

No. Our product portfolio is actually larger than what you would find when purchasing directly from the manufacturer.

We carry corporate grade computers from Dell, HP and Lenovo. Our deep inventory and robust pipeline of hardware coming off lease can fulfill whatever needs you have.

Are the computers legally licensed?

Yes. School Tech Supply is a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher. That means every single STS computer that we ship includesa new, valid, fully supported Windows 7 license. This is a new license issued by Microsoft specifically for refurbished computers being used by educational market.

Do you offer any guarantee?

Every STS Certified computer comes with an unconditional FREE Lifetime parts guarantee. We are the only company in the industry (new or refurbished) to offer this commitment to our customers. We also offer FREE on-site parts inventory for large orders, FREE same day parts shipping and FREE same day machine replacement. We will also buy it back from you within 3 years. After 3 years we will pick up and recycle it.

Are they as reliable as new machines?

Statistically, they are more reliable. Our certified technicians and rigorous testing process ensures that refurbished STS computers have a lower failure rate than new equipment. Each unit is tested when it ships to our customers.

Can I get custom imaging?

Custom imaging is included at no additional cost with every STS computer. We understand how difficult it can be to deploy hundreds of computers with limited resources. We will work with your technical department to create and install a unique, custom image that you require.

How can we finance these purchases?

Yes we Have financing available, honor all School District Purchase Orders and accept all major credit cards. We can often extend these terms if you have an immediate need and your budget allocation is distant. Leasing options are available as well.

Can I sell your old, unused computers?

Yes. You can convert your old computers into cash with our Cash for Clunkers program.
