How do users ensure they do not suffer from “finger burn” when using an ActivPanel?
“Finger burn” is the term used to describe the sensation that some users of non-Promethean interactive flat panels have experienced when moving their fingers repeatedly across the screen surface. Promethean has invested in specialized acid-etched glass for the ActivPanel, producing a low level of friction, which means that users can interact using touch for extended periods without any discomfort.
How can the ActivPanel provide a walk-up-and-use experience?
The Promethean ActivPanel includes a recess on the back that will accept a small computer that complies with the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) definition. OPS computers can be purchased from a range of computer hardware manufacturers. With an OPS unit installed and appropriate software (such as ActivInspire, which is included with the ActivPanel), a user can walk up to the panel, switch it on, and get started without the need to connect a separate computer.
